LABORATORY
INTERkraz’s in-house research and development laboratory, focuses on continuous improvement of products by improving the quality and durability of them in addition to refining the production process.
Testing and evaluation of rollers to AS, DIN and SANS standards is on-going.
The laboratory consists of a number of modern test stations, which due to their design allows for expedient testing and evaluation of selected parameters at the Customer's request.
These stations include;
-
Quality control and checking dimensions of finished product.
-
Testing the temperature of bearing nodes.
-
Rolling resistance (Rim Drag)
· verification of dynamic rolling resistance under load of 250 N,
· checking the static rolling resistance.
-
Radial run-out and straightness of the roller (TIR - Total Indicator Runout)
-
Dynamic alignment control, which determines the size and position of the correction mass.
-
Testing the bearing seal for water ingress.
-
Testing the bearing seal for dust ingress.
-
Testing the axial displacement.
WATER INGRESS
Test bench to check the sealing of the water roller bearing seat. Sealing the bearings should ensure protection against the ingress of water from the outside and inside the roller to the inside of the bearing seats and protect them against the negative effects of the runner's work.
DUST INGRESS
The determination of the extent to which dust penetrates the seal and bearing arrangement is conducted on a dust ingress test rig. The test is conducted on three conveyor idler rolls and is carried out in accordance to SANS 1313-3 standard.
TOTAL INDICATOR RUN OUT (TIR)
A standard test that involves centrally loading the conveyor idler roll with 25 kg and operating it at a surface speed specified by the customer for four hours in each direction.
The TIR test is carried out according to the SANS 1313-3 and DIN 22112-3 standards.
RIM DRAG
The determination of rim drag of a conveyor idler roll is conducted on a rim drag test rig. The test will involve loading the conveyor idler roll with 25kg at its centre through a flat belt or roller. The rim drag is the average of the two values measured after four hours of rotation in each direction.
